Jon Haskel | Principal
Mr. Jon Haskel attended Eastern Michigan University and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education. He earned a Master’s degree from Southern Utah University in Elementary Education and earned a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Sierra Nevada College. Mr. Haskel taught 5th grade for eight years before working as a learning strategist and instructional coach for two years. For the past four years, Mr. Haskel has served as the Elementary Assistant Principal at Pinecrest Academy St. Rose.
Mr. Haskel is married to Cassy Haskel and has two amazing children, Ryder Haskel who is 6 years old and River Haskel who is 4 years old. Mr. Haskel enjoys professional and college sports, snowboarding, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, camping, coaching t-ball, reading and Netflix. He is a fan of the Detroit Tigers and Michigan Wolverines.
Theresa Elder | K-2 Assistant Principal
Mrs. Elder grew up in Arizona and moved to Las Vegas thirteen years ago to attend University of Phoenix. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2009. Education has always been in the cards for Mrs. Elder. From her first job as Safe Key After Care Program Teacher to her current job here at Pinecrest, she continues to be passionate about education and strives to share this passion with others. This will be her fifth year at Pinecrest, where she was a classroom teacher before becoming one of our Instructional Coaches. She recently graduated with a Masters in Educational Administration from Lamar University.
Mrs. Elder lives with her husband, Jesse, two children, Redle and EJ, and her dog, Blue. When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, shopping, dancing and watching movies!
Mrs. Elder looks forward to connecting with students and their parents this year as K-2 Assistant Principal to help students reach their fullest potential with a fun and successful school year.
Mrs. Barbine was born and raised in Pennsylvania. She attended Christopher Newport University in VA, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. After working in the behavioral field for a few years, Mrs. Barbine decided to pursue her original career goal in education. She moved back to Pennsylvania, where she attended the University of Scranton and earned her Masters of Science in Education (K-8). Mrs. Barbine was hired by her college professor and has worked in private and charter school systems ever since. She has taught in grades 1-8 over the course of her teaching career and understands the developmental strengths and challenges at each level. The past twelve years have provided opportunities for Mrs. Barbine to work in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, mentor teacher, Student Support Advocate, and Assistant Principal in addition to serving on multiple committees such as curriculum development and PBIS. Mrs. Barbine has a passion for educating students on all levels and truly appreciates the value of school choice.
As the Assistant Principal for grades 3-5, Mrs. Barbine is looking forward to connecting the bridge from the primary/elementary level to the middle school level. She is excited to team up with teachers, parents, and students to create meaningful learning experiences that allow students to maximize their full potential.
Nicole Moreno | 6-8 Assistant Principal
Mrs. Moreno is a third generation educator and considers herself a proud Las Vegas native, having lived in the valley since her early childhood. As education was such a priority in her home growing up, she knew from a very young age that her future was in the classroom.
After graduating with honors from Bishop Gorman High School, Mrs. Moreno earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, with an emphasis in Comprehensive English. She obtained her M. Ed. in Administration from Sierra Nevada College. This is her fifth year serving the Pinecrest community and her ninth year serving in a charter environment. Mrs. Moreno is a strong advocate for school choice in Clark County and a true believer in the charter philosophy. She also enjoys working with Student Council and loves collaborating with student leaders to create dynamic school culture and build their leadership skills through event planning, fundraising, and college and career preparation.
Mrs. Moreno looks forward to partnering with students and their parents this year Middle School Assistant Principal to help students set academic and behavioral goals, promote self-discipline and advocacy, and inspire students to impact their community in positive ways.
